Sale of The Pen and Brush Building Moves Forward:

Many of you have been asking if our building is being sold.  Many have stopped asking figuring we’d either given up finding a buyer or any day, we’d have something to tell you.

At last, we can say we are in contract for the sale of our Tenth Street building and only a few days ago received approval from the Attorney General and New York State Supreme Court to proceed with that sale.  We anticipate closing at the end of April.

We also are in contract for the purchase of the space many of you learned about back in 2010.  Down the block from the Flatiron Building, it will provide 5500 square feet of space we plan to use for exhibitions, readings, performances, a library, meeting rooms and our offices.

Our Governing Board has taken a bold and very forward-looking step in deciding to convert the equity Pen and Brush built up over the years on Tenth Street into a new home as ideally suited to the professional presentation of art in all media as it is attractive and easily accessible to visitors.  Equally important, after purchase of the new space, a sizable endowment will be created from the sale proceeds, providing for the long-term financial security of the organization.

Now that we’re on our way, please check our website for updates and pictures of the new space.  You will be able to follow the progress of our buildout and join us as we prepare for our next century of presenting art by women.
