Poetry Workshop: Writing in Space(s), session 4: The Living Environment

For five weeks this fall, poet and educator Marissa Anne Ayala will lead a series of poetry workshops that encourage participants to engage, through writing and discussion, with the art and architecture of Pen and Brush. This session allows writers to observe the soundscapes and views of the gallery.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg proclaimed “Pen and Brush Day” on October 23, 2005. Eleven years later, we're still proud of that fact. Though the gallery is CLOSED on Pen and Brush Day this year, we want to recognize the honor we received back in 2005, and we invite you to take a minute to think about our mission and the women in the arts nearest and dearest to you.

This session asks writers to experiment with tactile elements of visual and literary art by examining how grammar and language create literary texture.

Augury Books Launch Party

We are thrilled to help the one and only Augury books launch their fall titles: You're the Most Beautiful Thing That Happened, the third full-length collection of poetry by Arisa White, and Say Something Nice About Me, Sara Schaff's debut collection of short stories. White and Schaff will be joined by guest readers r. erica doyle and Anna Solomon. Come say hello and enjoy an evening of quality readings in good company!

Pen and Brush Presents…October

Pen and Brush Presents… is a new reading series curated by Kate Angus for Pen and Brush. The series supports the work small press editors in identifying excellent writing, as well as supporting the writing itself by featuring exciting new work by established and emerging authors. Each month, “Pen and Brush Presents…” will feature readings by three writers, each one selected by editors at a press, journal, or organization with a strong female editorial presence.
